We keep a thin file on Western Switzerland’s life-sciences cluster because a device is never only a device — it is also the room that taught it to be careful. On 10 July 2026, Bearmind, a Lausanne startup and EPFL spin-off, was named among eleven companies worldwide at the WIPO Global Awards in Geneva.
A small sensor, a large room
The ceremony sat inside the WIPO Assemblies. Bearmind took the sport section, chosen from more than a thousand applications across 126 countries. The work is impact sensing for the head — data meant to be read before a career, or a season, is asked to continue.
In 2023 the company reached CHF 2 million in funding. In September 2025 it announced a partnership with Bauer. The award now adds mentoring on intellectual property, market, and capital, and a place in WIPO’s partner network. We note it here as a reminder that measurement, if it is to be trusted, has to survive more than a laboratory.
